Listening Comprehension	Level 1 Student can not identify any listening comprehension strategies and/or does not use them appropriately before, during, and after listening to understand French texts.	Level 2 Student sometimes can identify some listening comprehension strategies and sometimes uses them appropriately before, during, and after listening to understand French texts.	Level 3 Student can identify most listening comprehension strategies and use them appropriately before, during, and after listening to understand French texts.	Level 4 Student can identify a range of listening comprehension strategies and use them appropriately before, during, and after listening to understand French texts with confidence.
Reading Comprehension	Level 1 Student demonstrate limited understanding of French texts and/or does not identify the beginning, middle and end of the story.	Level 2 Student can demonstrate an understanding of French texts by sometimes identifying the beginning, middle and end of the story.	Level 3 Student can demonstrate an understanding of French texts by identifying the beginning, middle and end of the story.	Level 4 Student can effectively demonstrate an understanding of French texts by identifying the beginning, middle and end of the story with confidence and sufficient detail.
Reading for Meaning	Level 1 Student can not support their answer by drawing pictures to retell a story and/or restating the main idea in a text using familiar vocabulary.	Level 2 Student can sometimes support their answer by drawing pictures to retell a story and/or restating the main idea in a text using familiar vocabulary.	Level 3 Student can support their answer by drawing pictures to retell a story and/or restating the main idea in a text using familiar vocabulary.	Level 4 Student can easily support their answer by drawing pictures to retell a story and/or restating the main idea in a text using familiar vocabulary with confidence and sufficient detail.
