Year 7 Clay Mugs Students were asked to make a mug with only instructions that I must be able to be used and have a handle. This was done as a skills testing exercise. Rubric Code: ZX24AAA By treenie Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Arts and Design Type: Quiz Grade Levels: 6-8

Year 7 Mugs testing
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts
Shape of mug.	Poor Mug has no real shape or form and is quite un balanced. Edge not safe for lips to drink from.	Fair Mug has a fair shape and is quite even in shape. More time needs to be taken to ensure shape is more attractive.	Good Mug is very symmetrical and shape is very round.
Size of mug.	Poor Mug is too large and will not be able to be lifted once full of coffee.	Fair Mug is too small and will not hold a sufficient amount of coffee to be considered to be a mug.	Good Mug is a perfect size holding more than a teacup.
Handle shape	Poor Handle has not enough room to put fingers through to hold the mug. Will not be able to hold mug without burning fingers.	Fair Handle too big, which means it will very hard to hold when full.	Good Handle good shape and ergonomically sound.
smoothness of mug	Poor Very rough around the edges, messy and rough on the inside.	Fair A bit bumpy, more time needs to be taken to ensure that its smooth and neat.	Good Smooth and well finished. A nicely completed mug, made with care.
Join of mug handle	Poor Handle is falling off or fell off in the firing or before firing. More care and time needs to be taken to ensure that joins are strong and safe.	Fair The handle has cracked and has a weakenss at the join. Handles need to joined well to be safe.	Good Well joined- Handle has been joined so well that it looks like it has grown from the mug.
decoration/detail	Poor Not much detail and lacks decoration	Fair Interesting decoration.	Good Very detailed and well made. A lovely finish with the decoration and detail.
