	Fails to Attempt Essay 0 pts	Does Not Meet Proficiency 5 pts	Partially Meets Proficiency 10 pts	Meets Proficiency 15 pts	Exceeds Proficiency 20 pts
Response	Fails to Attempt Essay Student does not write response.	Does Not Meet Proficiency The essay is lacking all detail in regard to ansering the questions. Answer shows lack of effort and understanding. Difficult to follow	Partially Meets Proficiency The answer does not address a portion of the question, or major details are missing.	Meets Proficiency The answer is missing slight details. All information provided is accurate. Each question is answered using details and examples	Exceeds Proficiency The answer is complete. All information provided is accurate. Answers are supported with details and examples from project.
Length	Fails to Attempt Essay Student does not write response.	Does Not Meet Proficiency The essay is shorter than 5 paragraphs.	Partially Meets Proficiency The essay is shorter than 6 paragraphs.	Meets Proficiency Essay is 5 well written paragraphs.	Exceeds Proficiency Each paragraph is a well written paragraph.Complete with a well written introduction and conclusion.
Supporting Detail Sentence	Fails to Attempt Essay Student does not write response.	Does Not Meet Proficiency Paragraph(s) have no supporting detail sentences . Most statements are inaccurate.	Partially Meets Proficiency Paragraph(s) have one supporting detail sentence that discusses the information. Some statements are inaccurate.	Meets Proficiency Paragraph(s) have two supporting detail sentences that that discuss the information. Few statements are inaccurate.
