Problem	1 The student didn't correctly identify the problem in the fable.	2 The student only partially identified the problem in the fable and left out an important detail.	3 The student correctly identified the problem in the fable.
Description	1 The student didn't describe the fable at all or gave incorrect details about the fable demonstrating a lack of understanding about the fable.	2 The student partially described the fable and didn't demonstrate a full understanding of the fable.	3 The student demonstrated an understanding of the reading by accurately describing the fable.
Moral/Lesson	1 The student didn't understand the moral of the fable and didn't correctly identify the moral of the fable	2 The student partially understood the moral/lesson of the story, however they didn't fully explain the moral.	3 The student correctly understood the moral of the lesson and reflected that in their writing.
