Impromptu Speech Rubric
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts
Non-verbal communication	Poor The speaker exhibits nervous movement and fails to make eye contact with the audience.	Fair The speaker exhibits moderate nervous movement and makes limited eye contact with the audience.	Good The speaker exhibits only positive movement and maintains consistent eye contact with the audience
Vocal Delivery	Poor The speaker fails to utilize vocal variations and has poor volume. Rate is either too slow or too rapid. Speaker fails to captivate the audience.	Fair The speaker has good volume and/or lacks in vocal variation. The rate is average. The audience is only marginally engaged.	Good The speaker has good volume and projection and vocal variation. The speaker talks at an understandable and steady rate of speed. Audience is captivated.
Content	Poor The speaker fails to address the prompt and/or supplies very minimal details to elaborate on topic.	Fair The speaker addresses the prompt and provides limited supporting details. Details may be redundant or off-topic.	Good The speaker demonstrates understanding of the prompt and provides solid supporting details.
Continuity	Poor The speaker has frequent pauses, "um"s, and/or "like"s in speech.	Fair The speech flows smoothly with few pauses and/or thinking words.	Good The speaker delivers speech without pauses.
Time	Poor > 50 seconds	Fair Between :50 and 1:30	Good 1:30 or longer
