Xeriscape Gardening Xeriscape Gardening Your task is to explore the feasibility of one aspect of xeriscape living and apply it to the design of your house structure. Three suggested topics are xeriscaping, rain barrel irrigation, and solar panel power. Sustainable Living
	Advanced 10 pts	Proficient 7 pts	Basic 3 pts
Research	Advanced Research was as thorough as possible. Students calculated cost, availability of resources, and how much money would be saved by using their form of sustainable living.	Proficient Research was adequate. Students neglected one of three requirements from the "Advanced" column.	Basic Research was suspect. Students neglected two or more requirements form the "Advanced" column.
Critical Thinking	Advanced Students analyzed their research in terms of cost/benefit and stated whether or not their topic is feasible for their structure. This included an analysis of how many months worth of energy savings are required to pay for the initail resources/setup.	Proficient Analysis is lacking or feasibility is not stated.	Basic Analysis is lacking AND feasibility is not addressed.
Community	Advanced All research and analysis is based on the Western Colorado area. This was obvious in the final product.	Proficient Some research is not based on this area or this was not completely obvious in the final product.	Basic The research is obviously NOT based on the area.
Sketch	Advanced The sketch design presentation used scale and color in the drawing. It displays a basic design/layout of the structure with additions appropriate for the students' topic.	Proficient Students neglect two or more requirements from the "Advanced" column within their sketch presentation.	Basic Students neglect the layout/design within their sketch presentation.
