Plot	Beginning - Confuses beginning, middle and end and is unable to identify the problem, important events or solution	Developing - Identifies beginning, middle, and end - Identifies the problem,important events OR solution but not all	Secure - Successfully Identifies beginning, middle, and end and the problem, important events and solution -
Synthesizing	Beginning - Unable to retell elements of the text	Developing - Randomly retells some elements of the text	Secure - Retells all key elements of the text in logical sequence
Setting	Beginning -Unable to identify the setting, both when and where.	Developing Identifies the setting, but unable to identify both when and where. Only identiefies 1.	Secure Identifies the setting both when and where throughout the story.
