Students should have compiled a book that contains the essential elements of the story in the correct place.

- Setting
-Characters
-Ordered correctly (beginning, middle and end)
-Title Page with title

Basic

The book contains all of the following with 2 or more exceptions:

- All characters are correctly placed in the story.
-The story book has title page with title.
- The beginning of the story is correctly placed.
-The middle section is correctly ordered.
The end of the story is correctly placed.
-The story has a setting.
Approaching

The book contains all of the following with 1 exception:

- All characters are correctly placed in the story.
-The story book has title page with title.
- The beginning of the story is correctly placed.
-The middle section is correctly ordered.
The end of the story is correctly placed.
-The story has a setting.
Proficient

The book contains all of the following:

- All characters are correctly placed in the story.
-The story book has title page with title.
- The beginning of the story is correctly placed.
-The middle section is correctly ordered.
The end of the story is correctly placed.
-The story has a setting.
Exceeding

The book contains all that is noted under 'proficient' but also contains at least one of the following:



-Student has attempted to add extra details to the story book such as:

- author name
- page numbers
- Extra details to setting illustrations
- Writing character names
Collaboration

Students will be expected to work together in teams to collect the different parts of the story. They will be required to share, listen and contribute to their group.

Student did 1 or less of the following. They:

-listened to others contributions
-shared materials
-contributed actively to the group.
Approaching

Student did two of the following. They:

-listened to others contributions
-shared materials
-contributed actively to the group.
Proficient

Student worked well with others. They:

-listened to others contributions
-shared materials
-contributed actively to the group.
Exceeding

Students worked well with others as described in proficient but also supported struggling members of the group and promoted collaboration within the group.
Oral Presentation

Students will confidently and clearly highlight the major events of the story and outline the key elements of a story.

Basic

The student:

Explains only one major event in the story

and /or

Refuses to present or is not understandable at all when presenting.
Approaching

The student:

Explained all 2-4 major events in the story.

Speaks in a clear and understandable manner.
Proficient

The student:

Tells all 5 major events in the story.

Speaks in a clear and understandable manner.
Exceeding

The student:

Tells all 5 major events in the story.

Speaks in a confident and engaging manner.
