Content
Good
Students clearly explain the results of the sponge experiment in practical terms (e.g., "the wet sponge absorbed water more quickly than the dry sponge") and are able to explain their results using the slope concept as well (e.g., "the slope of our graph shows that the wet sponge absorbed water about twice as quickly as the dry sponge).
Fair
Students clearly explain how they performed the experiment, express the results in practical terms, and are able to relate their results to the concept of slope in a somewhat logical, but not completely coherent manner.
Poor
Students explain the steps they completed to perform the experiment but are not able to make a logical connection between their findings and the concept of slope.
Visual Aid
Good
Students make a visual aid that is well organized and presents the goal, methodology used, and findings of the experiment in a manner that allows the viewer to readily understand.
Fair
Students make a visual aid that conveys the goal and findings of the experiment, but the aid is not well organized and requires student explanation in order for the viewer to understand it.
Poor
Students show only a lackluster effort at making a visual aid, and the resulting demonstrative does not clearly convey the goal or findings of the experiment.
Teamwork
Good
Students work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect to prepare their presentation and all students contribute to the process.
Fair
Students spend time arguing and do not work well together. Nevertheless, they communicate respectfully and each student makes an effort to contribute to the presentation.
Poor
Students show inability to work together, communicate disrespectfully, and/or some students do not participate at all in preparing the presentation.
