Stage Directions	Excellent The play is inclusive of stage direction which is detailed and explains the characters actions, emotions, and props.	Good The play is somewhat inclusive of stage direction and included some detailed character actions, emotions, and props.	Fair The play has little stage direction which is confusing and is not very detailed.	Needs Work The play does not have any stage direction.
Dialogue	Excellent The dialogue flows and it is interesting. Dialogue follows the story.	Good The dialogue somewhat flows and is interesting. Dialogue follows the story most of the time.	Fair The dialogue does not flow very well and it is confusing to the reader. Dialogue seldom follows the story.	Needs Work Dialogue is extremely chopping and does not make sense.
Setting	Excellent Setting is realistic, in detail and present on all scenes.	Good Setting is present for all scenes but not as realistically written.	Fair Setting is not clear before each scene, or is not present on all scenes.	Needs Work No setting at the beginning of each scene.
Characters	Excellent Includes all well developed and they use proper dialogue.	Good Includes somewhat developed characters with proper dialogue.	Fair Characters are not well developed and confuse the reader.	Needs Work Missing important characters from the story.
Conventions	Excellent Play is typed, double spaced, and in an acceptable font OR neatly hand written. No grammatical mistakes. Coverpage has title of play, student name and date.	Good Typed or hand written. Contains a couple grammatical mistakes and /or is missing one required piece of data (name or date) from the coverpage. Coverpage has title of play.	Fair Play is typed or handwritten. Contains several grammatical mistakes and/or two pieces of the required data on the coverpage (name, date, and/or title) are missing.	Needs Work Play is sloppy and unable to read. Many grammatical errors. Coverpage is missing a lot of data.
