Voice Inflection/Speed	Exceeding Proficiency The speaker's voice rises and falls and conveys enthusiasm. Speaker keeps an even tempo, not too fast or too slow.	Proficient The speaker's voice has some rise and fall, but does not show much enthusiasm. The speaker speaks too fast or too slow at times.	Approaching Proficiency The speaker's voice is monotonous and the speaker does not show any enthusiasm. The speaker speaks very fast or very slow.	Well Below Proficiency Unable or unwilling to present.
Volume	Exceeding Proficiency The speaker speaks loudly enough for the whole audience to hear the presentation.	Proficient The speaker speaks too softly at times so that not all of the audience can hear all of the presentation.	Approaching Proficiency The speaker speaks too softly for audience to hear throughout the presentation.	Well Below Proficiency Unable or unwilling to present.
Stance/Posture	Exceeding Proficiency The speaker avoids swaying, and fidgeting; faces toward the audience. Uses hand gestures. Speaker maintains good posture through entire presentation.	Proficient The speaker tends to sway, or fidget, and/or turns away at times from the audience. Attempts to use hand gestures. Maintains good posture for most of presentation.	Approaching Proficiency The speaker continuously sways or fidgets and/or does not stand squarely facing audience. No hand gestures used. Posture is slouched or improper for entire presentation.	Well Below Proficiency Unable or unwilling to present.
Eye Contact	Exceeding Proficiency Speaker looks at poem and then makes eye contact throughout the presentation and with multiple people in the audience.	Proficient Speaker looks up but only makes occassional eye contact or contact with only one person.	Approaching Proficiency Speaker looks down during entire presentation.	Well Below Proficiency Unable or unwilling to present.
