Preparing for the jump

Student will be calculating the velocity of a marble using vectors. They will be calculating where to place certain items to complete different scenarios.

Poor

Students did not do any measurements or calculations.
Fair

The calculations that the students made are really off. They did not know how to approach the problem but they attempted. Did not use vectors and component vectors for solving the velocity questions.
Good

Student set up for calculating the problem was correct and they used correct and logical techniques for solving the problems. The students made some big error in the actual calculations. Used vectors and component vectors for solving the velocity questions.
Advanced

Students set up for calculating the problem was correct and they used correct and logical techniques for solving the problems. The student has very few or no errors in their calculations. Used vectors and component vectors for solving the velocity questions.
Launching the marble

Students will be setting up for the different scenarios. The set up should fulfill the different scenarios.

Poor

Students did not participate in the activity.
Fair

Students did not follow instructions and just randomly placed the items in the different scenarios without measuring.
Good

Students measure accurately and they place the items in the places that they calculated. They got the marble in a close vicinity to where they placed the items.
Advanced

Students have measured accurately and they place the items in the places that they have calculated. They got the marble to fulfill the scenarios specifications.
Reflection of the jumps

Students will reflect on what they have done for these scenarios (i.e. calculation preparations, setting up for the different scenarios). They will also correct mistakes and demonstrate their understanding of how velocity and vectors relate.

Poor

Student did not reflect on or only one of how they prepared for launching the marble and on the launching of the marble.
Fair

Student reflects on how they prepared for launching the marble and on the Launching the marble but did not correct any mistakes that they made. They did not explain what they would do to improve or what they have learned. If they did explain it was surface level.
Good

Students have reflected on how they prepared for the launch and on the actual launching of the marble. They have corrected some of their mistakes but not all and they have reflected on how they would improve and what they have learned. Demonstrate through the reflection some of their understanding of the relationship for velocity and vectors.
Advanced

Students have reflected on how they prepared for the launch and on the actual launching of the marble. They have corrected all of their mistakes and they have reflected on how they would improve and what they have learned. They also demonstrate through the reflection their understanding of vectors and relationship to velocity.
