Recognizing Sounds Short A and Long a sound
	Poor 25 pts	Fair 25 pts	Good 25 pts	Excellent 25 pts
Alphabet and Sounds 30 pts	Poor Recognizes some letters of the alphabet<BR> but does not know sounds.	Fair Recognizes all letters of the alphabet, but knows some sounds.	Good Recognizes all letters of the alphabet and their respective sounds.	Excellent Recognizes all letters of the alphabet and their respective sounds. Can blend sounds to read new words.
Vowels and Consonant Sounds 35 pts	Poor Identifies alphabet but does not realize them as consonants or vowels.	Fair Identifies consonants but cannot identify vowels.	Good Identifies both consonants and vowels, with their respective sounds.	Excellent Identifies both consonants and vowels, with their respective sounds.
Vowel Differentiation 35 pts Short and Long I sound.	Poor Cannot differentiate between long and short vowels sounds.	Fair Recognizes long vowel sounds but not short sounds.	Good Recognizes long and short vowel sounds. Can blend sounds to read familiar words.	Excellent Recognizes long and short vowel sounds. Can blend sounds to read new words.
