Singing and Playing Scales and Arpeggios Singing and Playing Scales and Arpeggios Students must learn to sing a major scale and arpeggio using pitch syllables. (ascending and descending) Students must also learn to play the C major scale and arpeggio on the recorder. This rubric will allow them to know what they are being graded on. 	No Evaluation 0 pts	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Excellent 4 pts
Accuracy	No Evaluation There is no evidence provided for evaluation.	Poor Student does not know scale /uses incorrect syllables or has to stop and start over multiple times.	Fair Student knows most of the scale but occasionally stumbles over some syllables.	Good Student performs the scale in it's entirety with 1 mistake.	Excellent Student performs the scale in it's entirety using the correct pitch syllables with no mistakes, adding musical elements such as natural dynamics.
Pitch/Tone Quality	No Evaluation Student did not sing.	Poor Student is mumbling/speaking/ sings very few correct pitches	Fair Too little physical effort by student for good breath control/ singing some correct pitches	Good Student has appropriate fullness of tone/sings mostly on pitch	Excellent Student has appropriate fullness of tone/ sings on pitch
Effort/Practice	No Evaluation There is no evidence provided.	Poor Student has not practiced, nor put forth effort to seek help.	Fair Student has not been able to practice or seek help by reasons that have been excused.	Good Student has provided effort to practice somewhat.	Excellent Student has practiced.
