Persuasive Essay Persuasive Essay Student persuasive essay that uses facts to back up their argument. Persuasive Essay Rubric
	Novice 1 pts	Apprentice 2 pts	Practitioner 3 pts	Expert 4 pts
Arguments	Novice lists reasons but does not back up with facts or other support.	Apprentice uses some facts to support the argument, but they are not used the entire time. The facts are disputed and may not be accurate.	Practitioner bases all their arguments on facts that they have researched. The facts are reliable and are used to back up the argument that the student has made.	Expert bases all their arguments on facts that they have researched. The facts are reliable and are used to back up the argument that the student has made. Also presents strong opinion.
Organization	Novice The student does not have the 4 paragraphs that were part of the directions.	Apprentice The student has the 4 paragraphs, but the student did not properly introduce or conclude the argument	Practitioner The student has used 4 short paragraphs and introduced the arguments, provided detailed examples.	Expert The student has used 4 short paragraphs and introduced the arguments, provided detailed examples, and included a strong relevant conclusion
Introduction Paragraph	Novice The student did not have the three parts of the introduction.	Apprentice The student gave this or her position on the topic, but did not have an attention grabber. The student did not follow directions when writing the introduction paragraph.
