Student sings mostly incorrect vowels with incorrect shapes and not enough resonance/space in mouth.
Phrasing

Student demonstrates understanding of phrasing by consistently breathing only in the appropriate places, getting louder and softer where indicated, and emphasizing only important syllables or words.
Meets

Student mostly breathes in only appropriate places, gets louder and softer in most phrases where indicated, and emphasizes mostly the important syllables or words.
Partially Meets

Student often breathes in inappropriate places, or does not get louder or softer where indicated, and does not make much difference between important and unimportant syllables or words.
Does Not Meet

Student rarely breathes in appropriate places, or rarely changes volume level where appropriate, and emphasizes unimportant syllables or words.
Diction

Exceeds

Student articulates clearly and the text of the music is understandable.
Meets

Student articulates the words somewhat clearly and the text can be understood most of the time.
Partially Meets

Student is sometimes articulating the words, but the text is often not discernable.
Does Not Meet

Student rarely articulates the words and the text is not discernable.
