	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
Title	Good Title is clear, specific and related to the essay. Title is also creative and original.	Fair The title is somewhat related to the essay but unclear or not specific. Title may be simple and not original.	Poor The title is not related to the essay.
Theme Development	Good All relevent facts about the theme (who, what, where, when, and why) have been answered. Theme has been related to your own experiences.	Fair Some of the relevent facts about the theme have been answered. Theme is only somewhat related to your own experiences.	Poor Little to no relevent facts about the theme are answered. Theme has not been related to your own experiences.
Clarity of ideas	Good Essay has been written in an easy-to-understand format. The reader is left with a clear understanding of your explaniation of the theme.	Fair Essay is easier to follow, still somewhat unclear yet easier to understand.	Poor Essay is hard to follow, is unclear, or difficult to understand.
Spelling and Grammar	Good There are NO grammatical 0r spelling errors. Punctuation and word usage are all correct.	Fair There are few grammatical and spelling errors. Punctuation and word usage are generally used correctly but some mistakes still exist.	Poor There are may grammatical and spelling errors. Punctuation and word usage is used poorly if at all.
Paragraphs	Good Paragraphs are clear and well-formed. Each idea is explained specifically in each papragraph. Ideas are no jumping from paragraph to paragraph.	Fair Paragraphs are formed but some ideas still jump from paragraph to paragraph.	Poor Paragraphs have little to no form. Ideas jump from paragraph to paragraph.
Word Count	Good Word count falls somewhere between 300 and 400 words.	Fair There are just 300 words present and it appears as though words were added to make it to 300 words.	Poor There are less than 300 or more than 400 words present in the essay.
