Kindergarten Community Helpers Project Grade 1 Community Helpers Project Students will choose a community worker and create a ThingLink to describe them. They will then illustrate their community worker in their community using labels. The students will incorporate at least 4 "hotspots" explaining who their community worker is, what kinds of tools they use, and what type of services they provide. The students will be able to present their community helper to the class and give a description of the job. 	Exceeds Expectations Excellent work is defined as following all of the criterion and doing the best work you can do. 4 pts	Meets Expectations Good work is defined as following most of the directions and doing the best you can do. 3 pts	Progressing Towards Expectations Fair work is defined as making an effort, but not really doing your best work. You are capable of doing much better. 2 pts	Does Not Meet Expectations Poor work is defined as not doing a good job and no real effort was put forth. 1 pts
Picture	Exceeds Expectations The picture gives a clear look at what the job is.	Meets Expectations The picture gives a look at what the job is.	Progressing Towards Expectations The picture is not clear or is blurry. It is difficult to make out what the picture is.	Does Not Meet Expectations There is no picture or it is too difficult to tell what the picture is.
HotSpots	Exceeds Expectations There are more than 4 hotspots. They describe: what the job is, what service it provides, at least 2 pieces of equipment used.	Meets Expectations There are 4 hotspots. They describe: what the job is, what service it provides, at least 2 pieces of equipment used.	Progressing Towards Expectations There are only 2 or 3 hotspots. They describe: what the job is, what service it provides, or 2 pieces of equipment used.	Does Not Meet Expectations There are 1 or no hotspots.
Presentation	Exceeds Expectations Student is able to explain their ThingLink page. Student is able to answer questions and explain how their community worker contributes to a community.	Meets Expectations Student is able to explain their ThingLink page and summarize their project to the class. Student is able to answer most questions about their project.	Progressing Towards Expectations Student is able to explain their page. Student is able to answer some questions about their project.	Does Not Meet Expectations Student only identifies their community worker and is not able to explain their page. Students can not answer any questions about their project.
