Prediction	Poor Student shows little to no ability to predict what story will be about.	Fair Student provides some ideas about what may occur in the story.	Good Student gives several ideas about what may occur in the story.
Uses illustrations for support	Poor Student does not use illustrations to support prediction(s).	Fair Student starts using some illustrations to support prediction(s) but more detail is needed..	Good Student uses illustrations to support prediction(s).
Making Connections	Poor Student experiences difficulty making effective connections between the illustrations and his/her own knowledge, experience, and thinking.	Fair Student extends understanding by making a few simple connections between the illustrations and his/her own knowledge, experience, and thinking.	Good Student extends understanding by making connections between the illustrations and his/her own knowledge, experience, and thinking.
