Creativity
Poor
Little or no creativity is displayed. Doesn't use video tools to edit or add elements. Sound is scratchy, over-loud, or inaudible. Only uses screen shots throughout.
Fair
Fair amount of creativity displayed, but lacks "oomph!" Uses editing tools, but not to best effect. Lighting is dim, and sound is either too loud or too soft. Editing cuts are choppy
Excellent
Excellent creativity, has appropriate levels of "oomph" within the video.
Lighting is great, sound is crisp and clear. Video has added effects, including fade in/fade out for edits and maybe picture-in-picture
Understanding of Subject Matter
Poor
Little or no understanding of subject matter displayed. Seems to not have read or understood material. Few sources or experiments discussed, lacks background
Fair
Understands basic concepts of the subject matter, but in depth analysis may be lacking or not clearly presented. A few sources, but only vague details, no critique of any theory or methods
Excellent
Excellent mastery of subject matter is clearly presented. Many sources that provide examples of theory and help with background. Information at right level for novice audience
Presentation
Poor
Presentation skills need drastic improvement. Nervous, and halting speech. Flow is disjointed and jaunty, no easy to define outline of subject matter, seems like a patchwork of information
Fair
Moderate presentation skills, may be lacking in some areas (voice control, flow), but overall effective. Evidence of some practice, but timing not even throughout, not easy to tell main topic from subtopics
Excellent
Excellent presentation skills. Clear and coherent.
Outline of presentation shown, has beginning, middle and end. Easy to tell major points from subtopics and illustrations
Relevance
Poor
Images/ Graphics and information used within the video has little or no relevance to the points discussed and/ or the topic. Effort to be funny or cute is distracting. Sound effects that compromise educational value
Fair
Images/ Graphics and information used within the video has moderate relevance to the points discussed and/ or the topic. A few graphics are too funny or unprofessional to keep education level high
Excellent
Images/ Graphics and information used within the video are highly relevant to the points discussed and/ or the topic.
Professional level, high quality, educational presentation. All graphics aid and enhance the presentation
