Formal and Informal Writing
Not Proficient
This student is unable to maintain a formal writing tone suitable for a research paper. This student's paper may lack paragraph structure and may contain any of the following: contractions, slang, idioms, etc.
Approaching Proficiency
The student's writing is understandable and does NOT contain any of the following: contractions, slang, idioms. However, frequent mistakes in grammar and spelling detract from the student's response.
Proficient
This student uses formal English appropriate for a research paper. Only minor mistakes may be found.
