Poetry Book/Portfolio Rubric Poetry Book/Portfolio Rubric Poetry Portfolio: This project is the final assessment in the unit of Poetry. This is a 4 week task wherein students compile original poetry done in class showcasing the use of imagery, and other literary devices. Poems includes animal alliteration, acrostic, Bio poem, cinquain, color poem, free verse, sensory poem, shape poem all presented in one portfolio. Originality	Beginning Work appears to be thoughtless or rushed. Work is very repetitive and ideas seem cliched, impersonal or unoriginal.	Developing The poems are creative, but don't demonstrate a variety of approaches.	Established Poems are creative and thoughtful. They are carefully written, but development or craft could go further.	Excelling Poems are creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into their words and innovatively conveyed their ideas and emotions.
Word Choice	Beginning The poems did not include any rich, colorful or precise language as discussed in class.	Developing The poems uses little rich, colorful, precise language as discussed in class.	Established The poems use some rich, colorful, precise language as discussed in class.	Excelling The portfolio uses rich, colorful, precise language as discussed in class.
Requirements	Beginning Most of the portfolio doesn't not meet the criteria required for the project.
