Headlines	Poor	Fair	Good All headlines read like sentences and included a subject and object. Only first word of the headlines and pronouns are capitolized. Deckheads are used as needed.
Spellcheck, etc.	Poor	Fair	Good Spell check and read all stories out loud.
Bylines and photocredits.	Poor	Fair	Good Bylines have correct spelling and title for each author. Photocredits are correct. All of the above use correct style sheet.
Photos, Infographics	Poor	Fair	Good Photos or infographic expand stories. Images are "easy on the eyes and use the rule of thirds. Cutline explains pic and adds to story. Credit is given to photographer or designer. Images have good contrast and avoid using candid shots. Mug shots labeled correctly.
Pronouns	Poor	Fair	Good Names for places, people, and so on are spelled correctly and include the prpoeer titles, student grade level, etc.
Ads	Poor	Fair	Good Ads are correct. This means having the right ad size placed on bottom and outside edges of the pages.
Folio (section heads)	Poor	Fair	Good Folio (the parts of the page located at the top of each page) include correct section name, section style, date and page number.
Design I	Poor	Fair	Good Page not too crowded and “flows." Stories are grouped by similarities when possible. Page uses correct style sheets for EVERY aspect of the page (i.e. headlines, deckheads,
Design II	Poor	Fair	Good Good use of white space. Lines used to separate similar looking stories. Page doesn’t clash with page next to it or the ads on both pages.
Deadline	Poor	Fair	Good Page done before or during the monthly "press day."
