Responses are recorded. Students must complete 1.5 hours of reading per week.
Above Average

Responses are recorded on time and dated correctly.
Average

Responses are recorded on time and dated correctly more than 50% of the time.
Below Average

Responses are not recorded on time or dated correctly (less than 50% of the time).
Poor

Reading time does not add up to 1.5 hours/week.
Completion
Journal entry has at least one paragraph consisting of 5 or more sentences. A full summary of the main events of the passage is given.
Above Average

Journal entry is completed with a paragraph of 5 complete sentences or more. A quality summary of the events of the passage is given.
Average

Journal entry has less than 3-4 complete sentences in a paragraph. An adequate summary of the events of the passage is given.
Below Average
