Persuasive Essay #3 English 070 
Write a persuasive essay answering the question posed in Chapter 5 or 6. The persuasive essay must contain 3 fully developed supporting paragraphs, an introduction and conclusion. You should incorporate evidence from the text and/or outside sources that supports your beliefs.

Exceptional

The writer has a superior knowledge of who his or her audience is and utilizes appropriate language for the audience. He or she understand the purpose for writing the essay, and utilizes a tone appropriate for his or her audience.
Good

The writer has adequate knowledge about his or her audience and utilizes somewhat appropriate language for them. He or she has a general understanding of the purpose for writing the essay, and mostly keeps a tone that is appropriate for the audience.
Fair

The writer lacks sufficient knowledge about his or her audience, and his or her language is not appropriate or sophisticated enough for the essay. He or she does not have an understanding of the purpose for writing this essay, and the tone is not appropriate for the audience.

Good

- Essay contains numerous grammatical, spelling, or punctuation issues. Vocabulary is weak and/or insufficient for a college level essay.

Conclusion

Exceptional

The writer writes an effective 5-7 sentence conclusion reminding his or her readers of the ideas he or she discussed in the essay by summarizing the key points. Thee thesis statement is effectively rephrased, and the writer leaves his or her audience with a lasting final impression with a suggestion, prediction, or call to action.
Good

The writer writes a somewhat adequate conclusion and attempts to remind his or her audience of the ideas presented in the essay; may lack reiterating key points. May lack an effective final impression.
Fair

The writer does not write an adequate conclusion, nor does he or she leave his or her audience with a final thought or impression. Key points are not summed up.
Poor
