Preterite Tense Use	Beginning More than three verbs are incorrectly conjugated	Progressing Two to three verbs are incorrectly conjugated	Proficient One verb is incorrectly conjugated	Advanced Every verb is correctly conjugated
Vocabulary Usage	Beginning Uses limited vocabulary but does not respond to the given prompt	Progressing Uses limited vocabulary that is related to the prompt	Proficient Uses appropriate vocabulary that focuses on chapter two vocabulary without adding previously learned vocabulary but still matches the context of the prompt	Advanced Uses appropriate vocabulary from chapter two and previous vocabulary that matches the context of the prompt
