Expert/Independent Student can accurately and independently assess and describe his or her skills and limits, related to academic goals.
Assertiveness	Novice Student request(s) for help or direction is ineffective.	Emerging Student request(s) for help or direction is moderately effective.	Practicing/Expected Student request(s) for help or direction is effective.	Expert/Independent Student request(s) for help or direction is highly effective.
Communication	Novice Student has been observed to rarely approach the teacher(s) to clarify expectations.
