Story Elements
	Emerging 1 pts	Progressing 2 pts	Proficient 3 pts	Exceeding 4 pts
Setting	Emerging Student attempts to provide setting, but in unable to provide even one correct component.	Progressing Student can provide 1 element of the setting.	Proficient Student can provide multiple details of the setting, where and when.	Exceeding Student can provide multiple details of the setting and explain how the setting is important to the plot, or what happens in the story.
Character	Emerging Student tries but is unable to name a character from the story.	Progressing Student can name one or more characters from the story, but cannot state who the main character(s) is.	Proficient Student can identify the main character(s) and supporting characters that are important to the story	Exceeding The student can identify the main character(s) and the important supporting characters. TL can also explain how the main character is important to the story.
