Locomotor Skills 1 st Grade Locomotor Skills 1 st Grade Identifies locomotor movement patterns within pathways and extensions. Directions: The teacher will demonstrate basic locomotor skills around in general space. Use this rubric to score each student's accomplishments of locomotor skills. Students will perform 4 different locomotor skills from the list fir a short distance. Add each locomotor skill performed from 1-4, then add totals at the end with total of 16. Skipping	Poor Attempting to perform/describe movement	Fair Understands/describes movement but cannot perform	Good Performs step/hop but not completely fluent	Excellent Performs coordinated movement	Total
Galloping	Poor Attempting to perform/describe movement	Fair Walks or run. Back foot crosses front foot. Turns to side.	Good Back foot sometimes crosses front.	Excellent Non-support gallop, leads with 1 foot and has an uneven rhythm.	Total
Hopping (1 foot)	Poor Attempting to perform/describe movement	Fair Cannot balance on one foot on take off or landing	Good Hops mostly on one foot but does not use the other foot as well or at all	Excellent Can hop balanced on either foot	Total
Running	Poor Attempting to perform/describe movement	Fair Rarely runs looking straight ahead. Little or no arm movement.	Good Usually looks straight ahead with some arm movement.
