Class Participation
	Excellent 4 pts	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor or no points 1 pts
ATTENDANCE/PUNCTUALITY	Excellent Student is always on time and regularly attends classes. There are no concerns.	Good Student is absent one or two times a semester and is rarely late for class. This is an acceptable amount of absences.	Fair Student is absent three days a semester and is tardy for one or more classes on a weekly basis.	Poor Student has four or more absences in the semester and often late. Zero points for 5+ absences.
Asserts Needs	Excellent Student is aware of learning needs and communicates easily with teachers about his performance independently.	Good Student is aware of needs but needs prompting to see teachers about his performance. He seeks help most of the time.	Fair Student is sometimes aware of his learning needs and occasionally communicates with the teacher about his performance but needs prompting to do so.	Poor Student is rarely aware of his learning needs and makes no attempt to communicate with his teachers about his performance.
LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT	Excellent Student often asks questions, participates in pair/group discussions. He makes good eye contact with teacher and peers.	Good Student sometimes asks questions, and participates in pair/group discussions. He occasionally makes eye contact but not consistently.	Fair Student rarely participates in class, struggles with pair/group discussions. Rarely makes eye contact with peers or teacher.	Poor Student never participates in class, does not participate in pair/group discussions. Has head down and does not make any eye contact with the teacher or peers.
PREPARATION	Excellent Student is always prepared for class with assignments and required materials. Independently turns work in without reminders.	Good Student is mostly prepared for class with assignments and required materials. Has a few late assignments to turn in.	Fair Student is frequently unprepared for class with assignments and required materials. Attempts to submit some materials late when reminded.	Poor Student is almost always unprepared for class with assignments and required materials. Has several missing assignments.
