Essay/Short Response Rubric Essay/Short Response Rubric Students will be evaluated by the following rubric when asked to anwer a short response question/or Essay question on a benchmark test. Short Responses
	Incomplete 3 pts	Good 5 pts	Thorough 8 pts	Excellent 10 pts
Complete Answers 1 pts	Incomplete Answers does not include all required parts. Thoughts are typically incomplete.	Good Answers questions completely. Thoughts are often incomplete.	Thorough Most of the original questions. is used and restated to form the beginning of the response.	Excellent All critical parts of the original question are used to in the restatement of the original question to begin the response.
Details 1 pts	Incomplete Few details from the notes are provided to support their response.	Good Some details from the notes are provided to support their response.	Thorough Many details from the notes are provided to support their response.	Excellent The student uses all details possible from the notes to support their response.
Clarity of Response 1 pts	Incomplete The answers are not clear. Poorly organized answers. Many spelling and grammar mistakes that interfere with clarity.	Good The answers are not clear at times. Some are poorly organized and hard to understand.	Thorough The writing is clear and communicates ideas well. Few grammar and spelling mistakes.	Excellent Student responses are clear and communicated very well. Few to no grammar and spelling mistakes.
