Writing Process

"Down" draft - Rough	Poor No evidence of a rough draft.	Fair Some evidence of initial thought process in a rough draft that is mostly complete. Student addresses the prompt correctly.	Good Evidence of initial thought process in a complete rough draft. Student addresses the prompt correctly.
"Up" draft - Revising	Poor Evidence that the student has revised in one of these five traits: ideas and content, organization, voice, word choice, and sentence fluency	Fair Evidence that the student has revised in two to three of these five traits: ideas and content, organization, voice, word choice, and sentence fluency	Good Evidence that the student has revised in four or five of these five traits: ideas and content, organization, voice, word choice, and sentence fluency
"Dental" draft - Editing	Poor No evidence that the student has edited for punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and correct grammar usage	Fair Evidence that the student has attempted to edit in one or more areas of punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and correct grammar usage	Good Evidence that the student has edited correctly for punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and correct grammar usage
Final Draft - Publishing	Poor No evidence of a final draft.	Fair Typed final draft shows evidence of some revision and editing (EIGHT mistakes or less).	Good Typed final draft shows evidence of thorough revision and editing (FOUR mistakes or less).
