Main Idea and Supporting Details 
Students will create a graphic organizer to demonstrate knowledge of main idea and detail while using an expository text of "The Life and Times of an Ant". The main idea and details will be the focus of the graphic organizer and the supporting details will be evidence. The student will include at least five supporting details. Illustrations will be added to the graphic organizer and must connect to the main idea as well.

The graphic organizer is sloppy, cluttered and does not show proper planning. It may have the main idea but may not label. Some supporting details are are missing and not labeled.The pictures are messy and scattered, or missing from the They may not have anything to do with the main idea. Over all the work is cluttered or lacking in detail.
Fair

The poster shows that some thought went into the work and that some planning took place. The work is a bit messy but does include: Main Idea, Supporting Details, and Illustrations. Labels are present on most parts. The pictures are mostly near the supporting detail they illustrate. The work may be cluttered but most work on the poster supports the main idea.
Good

The poster is proof of hard work and well thought out planning. It is neat and includes: Main Idea, Supporting Details, and Illustration/s. The Main Idea and Supporting Details are labeled. The work is not cluttered and everything on the graphic organizer supports the main idea.
