FIVE PARAGRAPH ESSAY FIVE PARAGRAPH ESSAY Your essay should explain your three favorite things about science and why they are your favorite things. Use this rubric to help you write a five paragraph essay utilizing five paragraph essay structure. Your essay should be neatly written or typed. 	Incomplete 0-10 points based on the level of completion. 0 pts	Beginner/Emerging met only few expectations 12 pts	Average exceeded most expectations. 14 pts	Advanced exceeed all expectations with limited errors 16 pts	Superior exceeded all expectations 20 pts
Introductory Paragraph	Incomplete No beginning paragraph	Beginner/Emerging Simple sentences. Lists definitions without using transitions.	Average Simple sentences some transition sentence between definitions.	Advanced Uses transition sentences and attempts to reword definitions into own words.	Superior Uses transition sentences and is able to reword each definition into own words.
Body : Each paragraph describes an	Incomplete No supporting examples	Beginner/Emerging Includes topic sentence, and restatement of how a machine works. Does not include an example or discussion of mechanical advantage.	Average Includes topic sentence, explanation of a how a machine works, a basic example, and discussion of mechanical advantage.
