Place Value Understanding of place value to the hundred thousands place

Understanding of places Ex: "Point to the digit in the tens place."	Expert Student can correctly identify the place value up to the hundred thousands place with 90-100% accuracy.	Intermediate Student can correctly identify the place value up to the hundred thousands place with 70-89 % accuracy.	Novice Student can correctly identify the place value up to the hundred thousands place with 69% or less accuracy.
Identify value of a digit Ex: "What is the value of 7 in 273?"	Expert Student can correctly identify the value of a given digit to the hundred thousands place with 90-100% accuracy.	Intermediate Student can correctly identify the value of a given digit to the hundred thousands place with 70-89% accuracy.	Novice Student can correctly identify the value of a given digit to the hundred thousands place with with 69% or less accuracy.
Rounding numbers to a given place Ex: "Round 35,273 to the nearest thousand.	Expert Student can correctly round numbers to given place value to the hundred thousands place with 90-100% accuracy. Problem Solving	Expert Student demonstrates an excellent understanding of place value. Student made all 16 possible numbers using the given digits. The student correctly identified the number with the largest value and gave a thorough explanation of how he/or she knew.	Intermediate Student demonstrates an excellent understanding of place value. Student made 10-15 possible numbers using the given digits. The student correctly identified the number with the largest value, but the explanation did not sufficiently explain their reasoning.	Novice Student demonstrates a fair understanding of place value. Student made 0-9 possible numbers using the given digits, but did not seem to have a system or method to approach the task. The student may or may not have correctly identified the number with the largest value. The student had no explanation or had incorrect reasoning to select the largest number.
