Manipulative Skills Assessment Manipulative Skills Assessment Kindergarten students will be assessed on their manipulative skills. Throwing, Kicking, Catching, Striking and playing catch with a partner are the main categories. Students will receive a pretest and cumulative test. Manipulative Skills Assessment
	Above proficient 3 pts	Proficient 2 pts	Below proficient 1 pts
Throwing	Above proficient Correct opposite foot and hand. Uses many correct strategies while aiming sucessfully at a target	Proficient Correct opposite foot and hand. Uses a few strategies while aiming at a target, and can hit it some times	Below proficient Did not throw with opposite foot and hand. Does not use strategies while aiming at a target
Kicking	Above proficient Can consistently kick a ball without missing. Can kick a ball towards a target with good accuracy	Proficient Can kick a ball but misses sometimes. Has trouble kicking a ball towards a target with accuracy.	Below proficient Has difficulty kicking a ball.
Striking	Above proficient Can consistently strike a beach ball or similar ball with hand. Can consistently strike a Gator Skin ball with a foam Stick.	Proficient Can consistently strike either with hand or foam stick but not with both.	Below proficient Has difficulty striking and object with either hand or foam stick.
Catching	Above proficient Can consistently catch a Gator Skin Ball/playground ball without dropping or flinching. Can move F/B or S/S to catch the ball	Proficient Can consistently catch a Gator Skin ball without dropping but flinches when ball is thrown to them.	Below proficient Has difficulty catching the ball.
Throw & Catch with Partner.	Above proficient Can consistently play overhand catch with a partner without dropping the Gator ball or playground ball	Proficient Can play catch with a partner but has trouble keeping the ball off of the ground.	Below proficient Has difficulty playing catch with a partner.
