paragraphs	Poor Five paragraphs are not present. Missing or incomplete work.	Fair Five paragraphs are present. May need more detail to thoroughly explain topic. All parts of the paragraph may not be there and it may show little detail.	Good five detailed, thorough paragraphs describing topic with clear organization. Shows knowledge of topic and is interesting to read.
Pictures, photos, drawings	Poor Five pictures, photos or drawings are not present. Work is missing or incomplete.	Fair Five pictures, photos or drawings may be present, but little time was spent to select them, or organize them. Photo drawing or picture may not relate to writing at all.	Good Five pictures, photos or drawings are present. Time was spent organizing and selecting artwork that ties into the topic of the writing and makes the book more interesting.
Conventions	Poor Writer has not taken time necessary to edit carefully. Too many errors in punctuation, spelling, capitalization or sentence structure.	Fair Writer has taken some time to edit, but there are several errors that could've been eliminated if writer took more time to edit.	Good Writer has taken great care to edit writing so it is clear and easy to understand. Two or less errors occur in punctuation, spelling, capitalization or sentence structure.
Extra effort	Poor Very little effort was put forth. Book is incomplete.	Fair Some effort was made, but more time would make book more interesting and thoughtful.	Good Extra effort was taken to make book special and meaningful. More than what was required is present.
