Student shows success in identifying the major problem, sequence of events, and resolution in the story. The student identifies a climax to the story that is correct with some explanation and detailing about how they came to that conclusion.
Meets

Student successfully identifies the major problem in the story, sequence of events, and resolution. A climax is identified but may not be wholly accurate or may be insufficiently explained.
Almost Meets

Student is able to identify a minor or secondary problem in the story but is not able to distinguish the main problem in the story
Does Not Meet

Student attempts to identify a problem in the story and specific events but the result in inaccurate.
No Skill Level Shown

Student shows no skill in identifying the major problem in the story or sequence of events.
Theme

Exceeds

Student shows exceptional skill in identifying the theme in the story and gives multiple details to support the conclusion. Student in addition makes connections and shares insights.
