Style and Grammar	Poor Rarely or never sounds like the character.	Fair Sometimes sounds like the character	Good Sounds mostly like the character.	Outstanding Sounds convincingly like the character.
Vocabulary	Poor No effort to use appropriate vocabulary words.	Fair Uses some vocabulary words that don't fit with the style or task. No attempt at vocabulary journal words.	Good Mostly uses appropriate vocabulary which may include vocabulary journal words.	Outstanding Always uses appropriate vocabulary which may include vocabulary journal words.
Depth	Poor Writing is too short to meet expectations for task.	Fair Writing is somewhat shorter than expected.	Good Meets expectations of length, showing a good understanding of task and purpose	Outstanding Goes over expectations in length, takes the time to really show mastery of creative writing and the task.
