Attractively constructed

Exemplary

Toy is extremely well-put together. Looks like a professional and/or manufactured toy. No obvious mistakes. A child would want to play with this toy.
Proficient

Toy is well-put together. A lot of care and consideration was put into it. A few mistakes.
Developing

Toy is put together fairly well. There are several mistakes; however still fairly solid.
Needs Improvement

Toy will not stand the test of time. It might last a little bit but will fall apart after a couple of uses.
Poor

Toy is flimsy. It will easily fall apart if given to a child. This toy would not catch the attention of a child.
Functionality

Exemplary

The toy does what it is intended to do. If a child/parent followed the directions, he/she would easily be able to understand how the toy is to be used.
Proficient

The toy does what it is intended to do. If a child/parent followed the directions, he/she would be able to use the toy, however they might have to ask questions of the designer first.
Developing

The toy does what it is intended to do for just part of the time. Therefore the design is not completely though-out.
Needs Improvement

The toy does only a small portion of what it is intended to do.
Poor

The toy does not do what it is intended to do.
Enrichment

Exemplary

The toy enriches at least two areas of development. It is apparent and easy to determine what areas of development can be fostered by the use of this toy.
Proficient

The toy enriches two areas of development, but not thoroughly. For example, they have to pick up a ball (which helps with physical development but not as much as having to pick it up and throw it).
Developing

The toy enriches two areas of development, but at a minimum. This means only a little bit of the time it would help in their development.
Needs Improvement

The toy only enriches one area of development.
Poor

The toy does not enrich any areas of development.
Age appropriate

Exemplary

A child who was given this toy in the age range could successfully complete the activity.
Proficient

A child who was given this toy in the age range would need a little assistance.
Developing

A child who was given this toy in the age range would need some assistance.
Needs Improvement

A child who was given this toy in the age range would need a lot of assistance.
