The student created a landscape painting using watercolors and extended the landscape scene outside of the picture plane.

The student created a landscape painting using watercolors and filled a 8 1/2 x 11 picture plane.

The student created a landscape painting which fills most of the 8 1/2 x 11 picture plane. Watercolors were used but in some areas the pencil drawing is still noticeable underneath.

The student did not fill the 8 1/2 x 11 picture plane. The landscape is drawn with pencil and little or no watercolor is present within the drawing.

Watercolors were applied in a neat and creative manner. Colors were evenly and consistently applied. Washes and neutral colors were used in the background. Brighter colors were used with more detail in the foreground. 4 or more Techniques where used.

The application of the watercolor is fairly neat and creative, however, there may be a few areas that need some work (some colors may need to be more evenly and/or consistently applied). The student used washes in the background and attempted to add detail to the foreground. 4 techniques where used.

The application of the watercolor is not very neat or creative. Many areas are lacking and/or incomplete. The student used only washes throughout the entire piece. 3 or less techniques where used.

The application of the watercolor was not done in a neat or creative manner. The watercolor looks sloppy, as though no effort was put into the project. 2 or less techniques where used

The artists statement is thoughtful and explains the painting process. A personal connections is used to 6 or more sentances are used. Proper English Standards are used and it is typed.

The artists statement is less than 6 sentences, it is not clear or communicate a personal connection. Few English Standards need correction.

It is not typed and many incorrect English Standards are present.
