Dancer has sickled feet and shows no attempt to stretch feet. Legs are weak and knees bend on the closing. Upper body is not strong and/or elbows are drooping. No attempt to a straight spine is shown.
Developing

Dancer does not pointe feet fully and does not close with on a strong leg; knees bending/weak. Upper body is not correct and/or arms are not strong; elbows lifted and spine straight.
Proficient

Dancer demonstrates with a pointed foot but may not close in a strong 3rd/5th position. Dancer is working toward a straight spine but may need reminding. Upper body is lifted and aligned.
Exemplary

Dancer shows properly pointed foot and closes in 3rd or 5th without bending knees and pressing heel into the floor. Upper body is lifted and attention to spine is demonstrated.
Chase' Arabesque

Unacceptable

Dancer does not attempt to chase' onto a turned out leg or demonstrate with correct arms. Leg is week and foot is not pointed.
Developing

Dancer fails to demonstrate the chase thru 4th position. arabesque is not strong and dancer is not looking in the right direction.
Proficient

Dancer chase's thru 4th position but does not complete the 5th en avant position. Arabesque has correct arm placement and focus is in the right direction.
Exemplary

Dancer goes thru 1st position to 4th on the chase to a squared off 3rd arabesque on a properly turned out supporting leg. Transition to 1st arabesque is smooth. Focus is correct; out and beyond upstage arm.
Focus/Effort

Unacceptable

Dancer does not perform with any effort and appears to be very unfocused.
Developing

Dancer demonstrates exercise with little effort.
Proficient

Dancer appears focused and performs with a good amount of effort.
Exemplary

Dancer performs exercise with true energy and effort. Attention to quality of movement is evident.
