After reading the book 'Dark Matter', the student groups will be responsible for researching and creating a presentation to explain the topics of quantum mechanics and string theory to 'regular people'.

Content
50 %

Students must include relevant and scientific information about string theory, quantum superposition, the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics, and the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. The information must be presented in which a 'normal' person would be able to understand the basics of these concepts.
Advanced

The student is proficient, has included interesting facts, quotes, AND one short (1 minute or less) video to aid in the understanding of the topics.
Proficient

The student has included background information on all 4 required topics, the information is easy for a 'regular person' to understand, and is organized in a cohesive manner.
Progressing

The student has included background information on 2-3 required topics OR the information is too complex for a 'regular person' to understand OR the information is NOT organized in a cohesive manner.
Beginning

The student has included background information on less than 2 required topics AND the information is too complex for a 'regular person' to understand. The information is NOT organized and is difficult to follow.
Presentation
40 %

The student has used technology (ex: PowerPoint, prezi, videos, wiki page, etc.), he/she has participated in the presentation of the materials, and has done his/her best to answer any audience questions. The presentation was 4-5 minutes long (approx. 10 slides).
Advanced

The student is proficient, the technology aided in the understanding of the topics, he/she clearly practiced for the presentation (i.e. he/she did not just read from the PowerPoint/Note-cards), AND utilized the entire time allotted for the presentation.
Proficient

The student has used technology (ex: PowerPoint, prezi, videos, wiki page, etc.), he/she has participated in the presentation of the materials, and has done his/her best to answer any audience questions. The presentation was 4-5 minutes long.
Progressing

The student has used technology in the presentation BUT it was ineffective, not relevant, or not well made OR he/she did not participate in the presentation OR the presentation was too short/too long.
Beginning

The student has not used technology in his/her presentation AND has not participated AND/OR the presentation was too short/too long OR the student was absent and did not make up the presentation on the make-up day.
