Pink and Say Inference Rubric
	Poor 0 pts	Fair 1 pts	Good 2 pts
Quote	Poor The student fails to use a quote from the story in their paragraph.	Fair The student uses the correct quote from the story but fails to copy it exactly. The student does not use quotation marks.	Good The student writes the quote exactly as it appears in the story. The student uses quotation marks.
Meaning of Quote	Poor The student does not attempt to provide a meaning for the quote.	Fair The student attempts to provide a meaning for the quote. The student does not provide a concrete definition of what the quote means.	Good The student provides a concrete explanation for the quote they are given.
Inference	Poor The student does not attempt to write an inference about the quote or the story.	Fair The student attempts to write an inference about the quote but they are not demonstrating a higher level of thinking and/or they are unclear.	Good The student writes an inference about the quote they are given. The students inference reflects their higher level of thinking and the student is clear in their writing. The students inference refers back to the quote.
Detail From Text	Poor The student does not include any details from the text.	Fair The student is unclear about the detail from the text that they are using to prove their inference.	Good The student is clear about the detail from the text that provides evidence for the inference they created.
