The Waltz
	Ew 2 pts	Okay.... 3 pts	Yay! 4 pts	Whoo hoo!!! 5 pts
Timing 3/4 time. (1,2,3,1,2,3)	Ew Student does not move on the three count at all.	Okay.... Student gets off beat quite a few times and has trouble recovering the timing.	Yay! Student mostly moves on the beat of the music; easily recovers if he/she gets off count.	Whoo hoo!!! Student consistently moves on the beat of the music throughout the entire dance.
Execution of Steps Basic Step Rotating Box Forward/Backward Ladies Turn Progressive/ Moving Step	Ew Student almost never executes steps correctly; gets confused easily. Executes 2 or fewer steps successfully.	Okay.... Student sometimes executes steps correctly. Turning box step is confusing and not mastered. Executes 3 steps sucessfully	Yay! Student mostly correctly executes steps correctly. Students can easily recover if there is a misstep. Executes 4 steps successfully.	Whoo hoo!!! Student flawlessly executes all steps in the waltz. Executes all 5 steps successfully.
Presentation Dancers maintain a still and upright dance position with their partner while dancing. Their bodies are positioned in the correct manner with proper posture and movement.	Ew Posture is lazy, slouched, and unacceptable during the entire dance.	Okay.... Dancer begins with proper positioning and poster but loses it throughout the dance.	Yay! Dancer begins with proper posture and movement but gets slightly off once or twice but fixes it and continues.	Whoo hoo!!! Dancer maintains proper posture and movement throughout the entire dance.
Focus Dancers maintain eye contact with partner or look out over their shoulder.	Ew NO-dancer looks at the floor the entire time.	Okay.... Dancer looks up few times, but mostly focuses on floor.	Yay! Dancer looks up mostly with occasional looks at the feet.	Whoo hoo!!! Dancer does not look at feet and focuses on partner or glances over their shoulder.
Partner Communication	Ew There is no communication between partners. Many toes are stepped on and there is a lot of confusion.	Okay.... Leading is a group effort.	Yay! Men: Lead their partners with minimal errors (1-2) Ladies: Attempt to let their partners lead with minimal errors (1-2)	Whoo hoo!!! Men: Easily and smoothly lead their partner through the waltz. Ladies: Easily and smoothly respond to their partners lead.
