Topic Sentence	Good There is a clear topic sentence at the beginning. The controlling idea is not too general or too specific.	Fair The topic sentence sets the main idea for the paragraph, but it needs improvement.	Poor Topic sentence is unclear or missing.
Supporting Details	Good Supporting details are provided in a fairly logical order -making it easy to follow the author's train of thought.	Fair Most supporting details are relevant, and the arguments are mostly in a logical order with only 1 or 2 exceptions.	Poor Supporting details are mostly irrelevant. Argument is not well organized.
Concluding Sentence	Good There is a clear concluding sentence which either restates, predicts, or gives an opinion.	Fair There is a concluding thought towards the end, but it has to be implied by the reader.	Poor The paragraph just ends.
Grammar & Spelling	Good Author makes 1-2 errors in grammar or spelling that distract the reader from the content.
