Journal Entry
	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
Length	Good My entry has five or more complete sentences.	Fair My entry has three or four complete sentences.	Poor My entry has less than three complete sentences.
Content	Good I restated the prompt and communicated my thoughts clearly.	Fair I did not restate the prompt, but the reader would still understand my ideas and topic.	Poor I did not restate the prompt and my topic was not clear to the reader.
Mechanics	Good I began each sentence with a capital letter and ended each sentence with a punctuation mark.	Fair Some of my sentences are missing a capital letter or a punctuation mark.	Poor All of my sentences are missing a capital letter and/or a punctuation mark.
Editing	Good I proofread my writing and checked on the correct spelling of words I felt unsure about.	Fair I proofread or checked the spelling for words I was not sure how to spell, but I did not do both.	Poor I did not proofread or look up the spelling for any words.
Word Choice	Good I used at least three new vocabulary words. I used only English in my entry.	Fair I used only one new vocabulary word. I used one or two non-English words in my entry.	Poor I used no new vocabulary words and more than two non-English words.
