Historical Fiction Concepts	Poor You did not include any reference to historical time periods or events/OR your time periods and facts are incorrect.	Fair A time period or historical event is mentioned in your paper, but not connected to any other events or facts in your story. It is not evident that you understand the historical time period you talk about.	Good The writing includes a true topic from history that we have discussed in class. Facts are interwoven into your story and they are accurate to your time period. Your writing demonstrates that you have knowledge of history.
Writing Clarity	Poor The main idea of the writing piece is unclear. There is not one problem and resolution. The writing is difficult to understand.	Fair Your writing has one main topic, but contains some information off topic. The writing is easy to read, but could use some revision.	Good Your writing stays on topic and makes sense. It has a definite beginning, middle and end, where there is a problem and conclusion.
Illustrations	Poor Illustrations are not representative of the historical time period	Fair The story includes some illustrations representative of historical time period, but there is some inaccuracy	Good The story includes illustrations representative of the historical event and time period.
