Control

Good control of the soccer ball begins with the ball staying close to the feet of the student. The ball should remain close so that the student can move around in any direction.

Poor

The student has no control of the ball. The ball is rolling around the gym floor and the student is spending most of the time chasing the ball instead of keeping it close to them.
Average

Student loses some control of the ball but keeps it in the vicinity of where they were dribbling the ball.
Good

The student is able to keep control of the ball by keeping the ball close to their feet in a way that they can move in any direction.
Part of Foot

The students are using the inside and outside of their foot to keep control of the ball. By using their foot properly they are providing a soft touch on the ball which in turn keeps the ball close to their feet.

Poor

The student uses their toe to dribble the ball throughout the task.
Average

The student uses both the toe of their foot and inside and outside of the foot throughout the task.
Good

The student dribbles the ball using the inside and/or outside of their foot throughout the task.
Eye Position

The students are are looking forward and doesn't have to look at the ball. The student can move around open space without looking at the ball.

Poor

The student looks at the ball the entire time throughout the task. They do not have a sense of direction of where they are going.
Average

The student does not seem to have full confidence in dribbling the ball with their eyes forward. 50% of the time, the student dribbles with their eyes up.
Good

The student dribbles the ball with their eyes up and knows where they are going with the ball.
