Sterilization of instruments

Gather supplies	Good Student selected the proper size wrap material and sleeve for the instrument. An indicator strip and indicator tape was prepared. A complete spay pack was assembled.	Poor Student missed one or more supplies
Wrapping pack	Good Student placed all instruments in the pack and wrapped pack securely with 2 layers of linen. Tabs were correct, the pack was tight enough not to fall apart but loose enough to allow sterilization to take place. The indicator strip was placed in the middle of the pack in plain view when the pack was opened. The indicator strip was placed on the outer layer and labeled correctly.	Poor The student missed one or more steps in the process of wrapping and securing the pack.
Preparing sterile sleeve instrument	Good Student chose the correct size sleeve, placed an indicator strip in a visible section of the sleeve, wrapped any pointed ends of the instrument loosely with gauze, sealed the sleeve correctly and labeled correctly.	Poor Student missed one or more steps
Autoclave	Good Student checked water level of the autoclave, turned power on, loaded chamber correctly, filled chamber correctly, reset the temperature bar, sealed the door and set the timer correctly	Poor Student missed one or more steps
